I enjoy
exploring a variety
of media including acrylic, watercolor, encaustic and oil monotypes,
linocut and mixed media collage. My curious nature combined with a love
of art in all its forms, has led to the diverse body of works viewed
here. Living in southwest Louisiana, surrounded by centuries old oak
trees, sugarcane fields, marshes, and bayous filled with incredible
colors has given me a keen awareness of nature in all its richness.
There is no shortage of inspiration or subject matter from which to
choose.
My artist's statement is simple..... I do what I do, because I love it
and it is fun.

I am a printmaker. Printmaking appeals to my analytical nature, to
my love for detail and to my methodical sensibilities. The Zen-like
process of printing an edition provides an escape for me, and for
new creative endeavors to marinate in the back of my mind, offering
me a way to see variations of an idea. My art often deals with the
complexity of human emotion. I am interested in the interiority of
facial expressions as well as people's relationship to their
environment. The political edge to my work is often a springboard
for exploring the effects of an event or situation on individuals.

Printmaking
began eons ago when man or beast stomped the earth or gouged a rock
leaving an impression. Eons later, in a print studio, I had a feeling
that the whole process was primordially developed for people like me who
thrived amidst ink pots, hot plates and clouds of stiff black-inked
tarleton, and tons of lithography stones
I adore
drawing, and, for me, good drawing skills are essential in making any
art, but good printmaking is unusually dependent on good drawing. No
medium rose up to meet me at such visceral level.

"Who's life isn't complex these days? The art work
I produce is a direct reflection
of the complex layers of my world. I appreciate
how small favors and simple kind
words or a passing smile have a way of melting away some of life's
harshness. I translate these favors and kindnesses into intimate
colorful mixed media images as my
expression of gratitude. This small collection consists of encaustic
paintings on fabric and paper, embellished with threads, glass
beads and buttons."

Terree' Tisdale-Kwarteng
Terree' Tisdale-Kwarteng's mixed media pieces
transform physical, spiritual and emotional realms through interactions
of stone, metal, wood, glass, handmade paper, material and found
objects.
Terree's art focuses on multiple transparent layers and natural elements
to embrace the connection between mankind and ecological
consciousness.... her always evolving exploration and stretching of the
boundaries of the imagination. |
