Bio
Carmen Alvarez Thibodeaux attributes her initial love of photography to her father, Oscar M. Alvarez, MD, as they spent many hours photographing together, and also the admiration of Father Fred Weber's artistic talent with his camera. Originally from New Iberia, Carmen has always kept the natural beauty of Louisiana deep within her soul. She studied and received her bachelor's degree in Biology from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans, while also focusing heavily on the Fine Arts and Photography. She also received a bachelor's degree in Geology from University of Southwestern Louisiana, driven by an interest in environmental studies. This combination of studies in the natural sciences, art, and photography ultimately culminated into an intense interest in the aesthetic nature of birds in the Gulf Coast region. A birder at heart, she spends her time photographing them from nesting to fledging, primarily in her home state of Louisiana.
Carmen is married to Joe Bob Thibodeaux and resides in Broussard, Louisiana. |
